I am having trouble seeing the search result when I press + F2, it shows the results on a black background with black text! How can I fix this, where do I go to change the colours?

I can’t personally help there (haven’t used KDE for ages) … but that’s quite funny, are those the default colours ?

Nope, checked out the website and followed the instructions and went through every scheme I had and even changed colours but its still black text on a black background!!!
