Mark sir, would you please explain or provide a link to creating vpn or pptp tunneling, moreover creating an admin password using pepermint live CD.
You CANNOT create a password in a “LiveCD” session … the changes will be lost upon reboot.
Creating a VPN (PPTP) tunnel in Peppermint requires you to install the “network-manager-pptp-gnome” (if it isn’t already installed) then to click the networkmanager icon in the system tray (by the clock) and select
VPN Connections > Configure VPN
then select “+Add”
then select VPN > Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
then click the “Create” button
then enter your settings.
But AGAIN … this will be lost at reboot in a “Live” session
If you want to add software and ssave changes, you’re goin g to need to install Peppermint (or whichever distro you want) to your hard drive.
I’ve checked that through software manager and network-manager-pptp-gnome had a green tickmark on it and not giving option to install does tickmark means it is already installed.
Yep, it does.
In terms of the live environment persisting…Mark - can you create a Peppermint USB drive with persistance? Does it behave correctly?
Yes it means it’s already installed … so just click the networkmanager icon and carry on from there.
Yes you can, and yes it does … BUT … with only 700MB of RAM and a CD drive (no DVD), I’m assuming the PC is too old to be able to boot from a USB stick.
