How do I create a bootable usb stick on a linux only netbook? [SOLVED]

I would like to create a bootable usb stick for peppermintos 4, on a netbook running peppermintos 3.
in the past i have used creators on a windows computer, but now I’m windowless

thanks

Keith

Hi Keith

You can use unetbootin or usb-creator both are available in the repos.

Personally I prefer usb-creator-gtk it’s simple to use and just seems to work whereas unetbootin can sometimes be a bit unpredictable in my experience

Good luck

Graeme

Thanks Graeme,

I’ve opened the live usb creator and have downloaded the iso from the peppermint home page.

I now need advice on how to put the iso on the creator,I just can’t seem to do it.

Check this out it’s explains it better than I can

Good luck

I was doing something wrong, as soon as I realised, it went smoothly.

That’s how we learn

Anyway glad you got it sorted out

Graeme

Mark.

Your tutorial is as clear as day.

now I running this netbook on peppermint 4,
I tried to boot up my desktop with this usb stick but it will not boot up,
It was duel booted with peppermint 3 and xp,
when I tried to install peppermint 3 only, to get rid of xp, a few weeks ago, it part booted and would not go further, so now i have no idea whats wrong.
Any ideas?

thanks

Mark,

now I’ve installed peppermint 4, all I’ve done is get this site up and running,

can I follow the tutorial to installing peppermint 3 or will this conflict with peppermint 4?

If you’re on an AA1 (110/150) the instructions in the Peppermint 3 tutorial will work.

EXCEPT for stages 10 and 11 (fan control / Jupiter power manager) which will NOT work in Peppermint 4 and need differing instructions.

If you want further info, please start another topic … this one is titled “How do I create a bootable usb stick on a linux only netbook?” which from what I can see has been (SOLVED), and should be marked so
