Have you any idea of the model of the Pinnacle card ?

Is it an internal PCI TV card or an external USB TV card ?

First empty this file:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf

once it’s empty, SAVE it and close gedit

REBOOT.

Once rebooted, run:

lspci -vnnn > ~/lspci.txt

and:

lsmod > ~/lsmod.txt

and:

dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt

Then post the contents of the 3 files you’ll find in your home directory called -
lspci.txt
lsmod.txt
dmesg.txt

Hi, sorry not back earlier, had a busy day.
My card is an internal one.

Does the card start to work if you open a terminal and enter:

sudo modprobe bttv card=39 tuner=33

then hit enter, and your password when asked ?

Nope, nothing happens
.

Can you explain that a little better …

What does tvtime do ?

What does it say when you try to start it from the command line ?

tvtime

OK, you need to be keeping an eye on dmesg every time we try something … to see what changes (to do with the TV card)

run that command again:
sudo modprobe bttv card=39 tuner=33
then run:
dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt
and post the dmesg.txt you’ll find in your home directory.

OK, lets see if the bttv driver can detect the card type on its own.

REBOOT … to clear the driver you loaded.

run:

sudo modprobe bttv

then post the output from

dmesg | tail -n 30

and

ls -a /dev/v*

and

lsmod | grep bttv

OK, reboot

Now try:

sudo modprobe tuner

then

sudo modprobe bttv card=39 tuner =33

If this doesn’t work, I’m going to suggest you go back to your PEAK TV card (Because the Vendor and Device ID strings are all wrong for a Pinnacle PCTV card ???) … I reckon we were closer with the PEAK card.

So put your TEAK card back in.

Open etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf for editing:

sudo gedit etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf

Put this line:
options saa7134 card=78 tuner=54
back in … and SAVE the file.

REBOOT.

Now (leave your webcam unplugged and) try starting tvtime from the command line with:

tvtime --verbose --norm=PAL --frequencies=europe

then if that doesn’t work … post the output from that last command.

Tried the first part, TV Card still not work, same blue screen as before.
Will change TV Card some time today and get back to you.

Well, I’ve just seen an update for TVTime so tomorrow I’ll search out my co-ax and reconnect it and see what happens.

Do you want to have another crack at getting your TV card to work ?

I don’t know if we’'ll get any further … “we can but try”

Sorry for not replying earlier, had quite a lot on lately.
Yeah, we can have another crack at it
