intermittent sound in some apps

Hi,

I’ve installed Mint 13 kde which runs sound files ok in Audacity but sound is intermittent in vlc and absent in Kafine or at YouTube. Any suggestions please?

I meant this was the first time I’d seen this topic … somehow it hadn’t flagged itself to me as a “new post” (as though I’d already read it and not marked it unread) ???
