Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to me and knows a fix. I have tried several times to dual boot the Linux Mint 15 cinnamon 64.bit with my windows 7 ultimate with NO success. Is it down to my hardware set up and will the new Mint 16 have any better success, or should i use openSUSE instead for a better chance of success. My hardware set up is listed below, or is it something else i has missed.
I do realize it may be purely down to hardware issues, if so can any of the linux Os run on my rig in dual boot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to boot the LiveCD/LiveUSB to a working desktop, and it’s only after installation that it won’t boot ?
or
Can’t you boot the LiveCD/LiveUSB ?
How far does the boot get ? … are there any error messages displayed ?
Are you using a USB stick or CD/DVD as the installation media … if USB stick, how did you create the stick ? ← Important (as IIRC some Gigabyte mobo’s weren’t booting LiveUSB’s unless they were created in a very specific way.
What happens … does it just lock up … or does it reboot … do the keyboard lights start flashing ? … etc.
Hi Mark thanks for the reply, i am using the live cd, i can get as far as the stage before the menu with the install option that allow you to choose to install alongside windows or do a clean install etc, it just sits there prior to that section and does nothing, i even left it for 30.mins just sat there doing nothing, after 6 attempts of it stopping at the same stage i gave up at that point.
I did run it from the live cd without trying to install and it will run, but i have colour degrade booting from the cd only on my HD monitor, everything is a light green blue with a washed out effect if that helps in any way.
If so make sure that the system have at least 6.1 GB available drive space and should be connected to the Internet.
It might be worth to see the status of your HDD partitions before you attempt the install next time.
When booted to the desktop from the Live CD open the Terminal (press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open terminal)
and run (that is lower case L):
Hi its an internal 500.gig, my main ‘C’ drive, i was going to put linux on the same drive, it has no partitions on it and over 200.g free, i will run the codes you asked.
The 2TB is internal as well, i imputed the code parted /dev/sdb and it said i was not a superuser and to watch out for my permissions and on the next line it said 'no such directory or file found.

The screen just stops no error messages, no reboot, it just stops, keyboard lights flash up okay and i am on average 12 to 14.mb dsl/lan and no problems running the live cd, except for a very pink screen instead of the proper green background.
Okiay tried the dual boot withg mint 16, it stopped on code line CR6, then went in with live cd and ran the code requested, here is the result.
mint@mint ~ $ sudo parted /dev/sdb
GNU Parted 2.3
Using /dev/sdb

Next i will try disconnecting my 2TB to see if that makes a difference.
