For anyone using Ubuntu 10.10 on NVidia hardware, I can report that the latest drivers just out from NVIDIA are a huge improvement over the ones currently available in the repos, indeed I’ve even turned Xinerama back on (!)
Download and install is easy, this is the download page;

Install is just; sudo sh
