'Open in Terminal' dissapeared

I have just found that ‘Open in Terminal’ has gone?

Also, can it open ‘tar.gz’ files?

[EDIT]
The reason I’m asking is I need to update flash player
(It doesn’t open ‘tar.gz’ files does it…

Just use:

tar -xvf ~/PATH/TO/FILE/NAME.tar.gz

I think he means the option for “Open in Terminal” has disappeared from the context menu when you right-click. Although does that option even exist in 11.10? :o

Yes, Mark gave me the instructions to install it s short time back.

Try:-

sudo apt-get install --reinstall nautilus-open-terminal

I still have no idea what you meant by:-

(It doesn’t open 'tar.gz' files does it...

What is “It” ? … what doesn’t open .tar.gz ?

Gp back to my first post…

If you want to open the “tar.gz” files then you can do so using Nautilus you file manager. Just double click on them.

When you tell me what “it” is, I’ll attempt to answer your question, but:-

I have just found that 'Open in Terminal' has gone?

Colour me dumb, but that makes little sense on its own …

if "it = the “Open in Terminal” right click context menu … NO I don’t think it does.

If “it” = Flashplayer … NO

If “it” = VLC … NO

if “it” = LibreOffice … NO

if “it” = a lightly baked turnip … NO

if “it” = your pet parrot … I doubt it unless you’re the worlds best parrot trainer.

if “it” = Jimmy Saville … not any more

if “it” = Firefox … YES, but not on its own.

If “it” = File-Roller … YES

If “it” = the terminal command “tar” … YES

If “it” = the right-click context menu … YES … “Extract Here”, or “Extract To”

if “it” = Linux as a whole … of course it can.

There, I think that just about covers “it”, but it would have helped if you’'d just told me when I asked rather than just repeating yourself, or ignoring the question altogether.

If you want me to respond, you’ll have to answer my questions, and let me know what happened …

Gp back to my first post... I have just found that 'Open in Terminal' has gone?

Considering my response contains a quote from your first post, It would be safe to assume I’ve already read it …

And considering I’d just given you a possible fix for the missing “Open in Terminal”, why would you point out that you’d already said it was missing in your first post, as though I didn’t know that already ?

A little feedback might also help … did my last command work ? … if not, was there any output ?

Oh my god… LOL. How many times can you say “It” in one post"? ???

What was the question again? ;D

I believe the question is, what are you trying to achieve here? ::slight_smile:
