Seeing as it’s the begining of a new year (and I’m bored) I would like to propose a predictions thread of lets say 3 predictions we believe will happen in the Linux/PC space before the end of the year
Here’s mine
(1) Google will be taken to court under a massive lawsuit for mis-selling web browsers disguised as laptops
(2) Apple will sue the persuers of the this lawsuit claiming it was their idea and they thought of it first
(3) Mark Greaves will admit he was wrong about something

Well I’ll admit one of them is stretching it a bit but I’m not saying which one
Apple will be taken to court for “look and feel” infringement by Granny Smith … she’ll say she didn’t mind them looking but objected when they copped a feel.
The Sun newspaper will release candid photo’s of Nixie Pixel with her Nokias out in a hotel room with Steve Balmer doing odd things with Blackberries.
2a) Billl gates wll be found guilty of market rigging … his punishment will be 2 years in a cell with a 6’6" tattooed horny muscle bound black lifer who’s nickname just happens to be “Tux”
3a) Homer Simpson will replace Steve Balmer as CEO at Microsoft, and after misreading an internal memo will immediately start spreading DUFF about Linux.

An anti-virus company will “discover” a Linux virus that will spell the end for Linux unless you buy their product, but will share NO details on it’s method of transmission/infection … this will all come to nothing.
Microsoft will continue to loose market share to Linux/FOSS at a rate that will confound many … specially Microsoft shareholders.
Linux will continue to dominate IT
Apple will go into the fashion industry selling overpriced shiny plastic tat to kids with more money than sense, and make a fortune … Oh wait !!!

Depends on your definition of smartness (!) … if you link it to education, then kids smartness has been declining for the last 50 years. If you want proof, trying interviewing a computer science grad and work out if they would be good enough to pass ‘A’ level computing from 20 years ago. Could be a close run thing … (!)
