I have tried all of the solutions, but none of them have worked. This is my first time using Linux and am VERY confused as i cant work out how to download ANYTHING as i am used to windows. Can anyone help me?
If you’re still running Linpus Lite as the operating system, my advice would be to replace it with PeppermintOS 3.
Linpus Lite (default Linux distribution on Acer Aspire Ones) is not only a god awful cut down and crippled Linux distribution, but it has been out of active development for years now … you’ll struggle to get any up-to-date software to run on it, if at all.
Peppermint 3 on the other hand is totally up to date, and has single click access to all the latest software (including Skype).
I’ve written a tutorial for installing Peppermint 3 on an Acer Aspire One (AOA110 and AOA150) here:

Seriously … Struggling on with Linpus Lite is not only a security risk, but is a total waste of time … Peppermint 3 will give your AA1 a completely new lease of life, and you’ll wonder what the hell Acer were thinking when they installed Linpus Lite
If on the other hand you want to attempt to get Skype working in Linpus Lite, let me know and we’ll see what we can come up with … but even if successful, it’s liable to take more effort than just installing PeppermintOS 3
.
thank you i will try and get Peppermint3 8)
