Slackware 14

RC2 of the forthcoming Slackware 14 is out.

Kernel 3.2.26
KDE 4.8.5

Nice.
;D

I was with you until KDE4  … I’ll have to give it a looksee though.

Looking forward to try it out when it is released.

Strange, I had no trouble with the transition from KDE3 to KDE4 (ignoring the buggy bits of course)
For me it was an evolution rather a revolution.

I tried KDE4 in its early days, and was put off for life by the bugs you mentioned (the bugs didn’t help when I was just getting into Linux in the first place, and nearly put me off Linux altogether) … I know I should really give it another chance, but just can’t get used to it, it just “feels” all wrong.

I think you are talking yourselves into giving it another go. :o The bugginess is long gone and it is a completely different experience from the earlier years. http://www.linuxinsider.com/rsstory/75903.html

With the exception of needing to chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager and reboot - RC2 works as I would expect the final release to work.
Packages built against 13.37 installed and work fine (as far as I can tell).

Woot!

Also looking forward to the next bunch of releases from Salix which, presumably, will be based on Slackware14.

have they fixed the Btrfs and ZFS problems yet and is it a rc or full release

Erm … didn’t

RC2 of the forthcoming Slackware 14 is out.

Give you a clue

Sorry, couldn’t resist
