SOLVED - Printer will not cancel print jobs

I am unable to cancel print jobs.

Every time I try to use the printer I end up wasting many sheets of paper and ink because the printer is printing previous print jobs. Every time I try to use the printer another job enters the queue and I cannot delete the queue. I hate to say this but I didn’t have any problems when I was running Windows.

Hi Tanya.

Which Linux distribution/version are you using ? (eg. Ubuntu 12.04, Peppermint 3, etc.)

If you open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run:

system-config-printer

Doees the “Printer” dialog box open ? … if so, right-click your printer, and select “View Print Queue” … are the print jobs listed ? and can you delete them by highlighting them and clicking the red X at the top ?

Hi Mark,

Apologies for not replying earlier. Had to go and look after my Dad the day after I posted this. No internet! Nightmare!

I am running Mint Maya.

The terminal command worked, thank you.

will I have to do that every time I want to print or, should it now clear itself automatically?

Tanya

I have no idea Tanya … hopefully it will clear already printed stuff from the queue automatically now (as it should), but if it doesn’t let me know and we’ll see if we can work out what the problem is

Fingers crossed!
