I put the disc in and VLC won’t play it- no idea why- it has played loads of other DVDS. On Peppermint laptop.
Hi Melissa
Is it showing any error messages ?
Graeme
That’s because it’s a subroutine that’s being protected by the oracle
Try the red pill … running:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
then
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
Does it play now ?
Cheers guys! Works a treat! Have no idea why other DVDs would play, nor what all that code stuff in the terminal you gave me was lol, but cool I will watch it tomorrow now. I like summat to watch when having my dinner. ;D
It showed no error message, it just wouldn’t play. Brand new DVD I got ages ago- The Matrix one and two in one set!
I have another question for you guys. When I play a CD in Audacious it plays the music randomly, which is kind of annoying when I want to hear a Symphony in the right order! They play in the right order in Rhythmbox but I prefer Audacious because it has a super stereo setting. Why does Audacious do that? It is living up to its name. ???

That sounds like summat out of Star Trek! No idea what it means hehe.

Erm, you haven’t watched the Matrix yet then ?
I did see the first one on TV many years ago, but can’t remember what happened no! I haven’t seen the 2nd or third ones at all. So when I saw the first two in a box set for £3 I got them! I will get the last one at some point also.
It’s kind of a sore point as my Dad bought me the trilogy in a lovely boxed set a few years ago and a so called friend took it from our mutual friend’s flat ( he has a huge TV and the DVDs wouldn’t work on my stupid Millenium Windows desktop I had then, so I left it with him as we planned to watch them), gave it to her son who took it to a mate’s home of his, and I never got it back- the cheeky bint refused to give it me back!!! So, I NEVER saw my OWN DVDS!!!

Are you sure you haven’t selected some kind of “Shuffle” play ?
:-[
I just looked at the Playback thing and shuffle was ticked…well I didn’t tick it! All should be well now…
