Themes

How do I install themes?
I have been searching but have no idea how to do it properly.
I have included a screenshot but I’m confused as to why I have the warning triangle on one of the items???

In your screenshot … click Shell Extensions … then in there IIRC, there’s an option something like “Allow user themes”, or “Allow user Extensions” or similar.

IIRC, you may have to reboot after selecting that.

You’re going to love this one…

Ahh … you’re in classic mode aren’t you ?

What’s the difference with the gnome modes?

The whole desktop :o

I wouldn’t expect themes for Gnome3 shell to work in Gnome classic any more than I’d expect LXDE themes to work in KDE

I’ve moved over to ‘Gnome’ and I get (screenshot)
So, it looks better, I think I downloaded some extensions a while back but cant remember where I put them, what are they called? eg. ‘txt’ for text files so I can do a search for them…

Is there a hidden folder in your Home directory called .themes ?

Are they in there ?

Re the screenshot… WTF!

And, no - there’s no .Themes folder

What graphics drivers are you using:

sudo lshw -C display

also run:

sudo updatedb

then send the output from

locate themes
sudo lshw -C display

Themes is a txt file as it’s too big to post as text in here

Hey, Mark, any ideas why the screenshot turned out like it did in the post above?

I’ve no idea … was it just the screenshot, or the window itself ?

BTW, after looking at your themes.txt file, and checking gnome-look.org for how themes are installed … your themes appear to be at

/usr/share/themes/

Thing it was just the window I grabbed.

Well that told me nothing :o … the window itself was scrambled, or just the screengrab picture ?

lol…sorry, the screengrab.
