Ubuntu 11.10

Anyone got any opinions re whether or not it is worth upgrading to this version from 11.04?

I am a new convert from Windows (Friday, 28 Oct 11) and installed V11.10 and I am quite pleased with what I have got, a far superior OS.
What I’d probably do, if I were you I would create it as a dual boot or try it from a CD/USB stick first, like I did before I wiped Windows from my system.
Something to research though, is dome people upgrading from V11.04 to 11.10 are having some slight problems, so I’d look into what they are first.

I’ve found workarounds to most of the issues I originally had and am quite pleased with 11.10 so far (at least with GNOME 3 rather than Unity) … you’ll find the fixes/workarounds scattered around this forum.

This is not to say there aren’t problems … there are, but read that topic and if you have any questions, I’ll try to answer them

In answer to your original question … Unless you want to try GNOME 3, or like living on the cutting edge (with its problems), or just like shiny new things, it may be advisable to wait a short while whilst issues/bugs get worked out … but the choice at the end of the day rests with you
