ubuntu 9.10 desktop

I have a dell vostro 1720 with 1510 wireless card. As supplied runs on win 7. Automatically found my Bellkin router and connects to www without any problems. Used wubi to load u9.10, 64 bi, as a disc from 8daysaweek, and all seems well, except that the wireless card is not found.

I also have a dell desktop running windows XP. Used wubi to load u9.10, 32 bit, as a disc from Canonical,. and all seems well. Used a Belkin USB adaptor to connect to the router and all works well.

Any help or suggestions would be welcome!!

Installing b43/STA hybrib drivers for Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala), and 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)

To install the b43/STA hybrid drivers/firmware from the restricted repository:

connect using an ethernet cable, then in a terminal type…

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source

and hit enter

Following the above command, under the desktop menu System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, the drivers can be activated for immediate use

If you don’t have any other means of internet access on your computer, you will have to install bcmwl-kernel-source from the restricted folder under …/pool/restricted/b/bcmwl on the Ubuntu install CD or from the official online repositories.

Double click to install or in a terminal issue the following command:

sudo dpkg -i bcmwl-kernel-source*
