Go to System>Preferences>CompizConfig Settings Manager

Put a tick in Desktop Cube and Rotate Cube

Now if you hold Ctrl+Alt+Left Mouse Button, and move the mouse… the cube will rotate.

If there is no CompizConfig Settings Manager in the menu… you’ll need to install the compizconfig-settings-manager package and it wouldn’t hurt to install compiz-fusion-plugins-extra at the same time

These can be installed (graphically) from within the Synaptic Package Manager, or from a terminal with this command:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-fusion-plugins-extra

Have fun playing with Compiz…

thanks
