Wireless network and ubuntu 11.10

I have run ubunto 11.10 from dvd to test it on my HP Pavilion DV5000.

My laptop internal modem is an AC97 Soft Data fax Modem with SmartCP

The network adapters are:
Broadcom 802.1b/g WLAN
Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC.

Ubuntu is great (as is Mint actually) but neither of them seem to start my wireless card. Do I need to install something or will it work if I carry out a full installation?

Would like your advice, as ubuntu will ensure I can keep using my laptop, which works very quickly with Linux.

Open a Terminal and post the output:

sudo iwconfig

This should give some info about your chipset

Can you open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and enter:

sudo lshw -C network

hit enter, and your password when asked … and post back the output.

Remember … Linux commands ARE case sensitive, and you will NOT see your password echoed to screen whilst you enter it, but it IS being entered.
